Below are some important notes on upgrading to Confluence 5.3. For details of the new features and improvements in this release, please read the Confluence 5.3 Release Notes.

アップグレード ノート

Rename user page version limitation

As part of the work required to allow administrators to rename users a migration task will create a new version of each page / blog in your site. Only the latest version of each page / blog will be migrated. This means that when a username is changed, any user mentions in page versions prior to the 5.3 migration will contain that user's old username. This is a limitation of our migration framework.

Personal space keys are not changed when a user is renamed

If a Confluence Administrator renames a user who has a personal space, the space key for that space will remain the user's original username. For example if jsmith's username is changed to jbrown, their personal space key will remain ~jsmith.

Some translations not available in 5.3

Translations for several new features, including the new Create Space dialog, new blueprints, Whitelist and the Livesearch macro, are not available in this release. We hope to make these translations available shortly after this release in 5.3.1.  If you use a language pack other than English, we do not recommend you upgrade to Confluence 5.3 yet.

Notifications refresh

In Confluence 5.2 we refreshed the look of our email notifications. As part of this work we have removed the Edit Space notification email.

End of support for MS SQL 2005

As previously announced, from this release onwards we no longer offer support for MS SQL 2005. See End of Support Announcements for Confluence for more information.

End of support for the Social Bookmarking plugin

As previously announced, from this release onwards we no longer support the Social Bookmarking Plugin. This functionality has been replaced by the Shared Links blueprint.

Confluence 5のチームの準備

Confluence 5.0 introduced a number of significant changes to the user experience: a new way of creating content, a redesigned header, a new sidebar, and other changes to the look and feel of your site. People in your organization will need to be aware of the coming changes, so that they can plan and prepare for them. We have written a guide to help you: Planning for Confluence 5.

In addition, if you are upgrading from Confluence 3.5 or earlier please note that the change to the Confluence editing experience is significant. See the guide to Planning for Confluence 4.

Note: Upgrade to a test environment first. Test your upgrades in your test environment before rolling them into production.
