Import repositories from the interface

Importing code from other DVCS providers just got easier with Bitbucket 4.9. Now, when you're creating a new repository you can import code from an existing project into Bitbucket Server using the web interface. Just pick your source, provide your credentials, then pick one or more repositories to import. You can import repositories from Bitbucket Cloud, GitHub, GitHub Enterprise, or a standalone Git repository.

Disaster recovery for Bitbucket Data Center

A disaster recovery strategy gives teams and businesses the toolset to set up a strategy for when things go wrong. It defines the processes to follow in the event of a disaster to ensure your business can recover and keep operating from a standby system. This means your Bitbucket instance, and more importantly your Bitbucket managed data (source code), is available in the event that your primary system becomes unavailable. See our Disaster recovery guide for Bitbucket Data Center for details on how to create a disaster recovery plan for your organization.

Set merge strategies from the interface

Bitbucket Server 4.9 introduces a new way to configure merge strategies to give users and teams control over how pull requests get merged.

No matter what merge strategy your team uses, repository admins can easily enable/disable merge strategies for a specific repository.

Now the question becomes, "which merge strategy should my team use?" We won't go as far as prescribing a merge strategy for your team (we aren't touching that one), you can check out Nicola Paolucci's great blog post, Pull Request Merge Strategies: The Great Debate for an in-depth discussion of the topic.

When you're ready to start configuring which merge strategy your team uses, check out the doc about Pull request merge strategies.
