2.5 Enterprise の条件

Over the last ten years, JIRA has grown from a simple issue tracker used by small development teams, into a mature application that the enterprise relies on for product, project and process management. In fact, the vast majority of Fortune 100 companies leverage JIRA for critical aspects of their business. When deciding if JIRA will be the right fit for your enterprise, it's important to compare it alongside other solutions using a set of common criteria.

JIRA has been proven to scale to well over 10,000 users with hundreds of thousands of records, and although Atlassian recommends splitting your JIRA instances once your records exceed 200,000, the product will continue to work. For more information, please view our dedicated best practice guide on Scaling JIRA 6.4. For more performance guides, please see the Garbage Collection (GC) Tuning Guide and Tuning Database Connections.

Availability and Reliability

With installations in over 11,000 companies across more than 122 countries, JIRA is a reliable platform that has quickly become an enterprise standard. JIRA's architecture is based upon industry standards as well as proven technology and frameworks - allowing organizations to place JIRA at the center of their mission critical product and process development organizations. Atlassian offers both on-premise, behind the firewall installations, as well as their Cloud SaaS service which maintains an impressive 99.9% uptime. In a dedicated enterprise best practice guide, we also show how you can implement Failover for JIRA Data Center.

セキュリティ

Flexible yet accountable, JIRA offers system administrators restrictions that can be applied at the project, issue, field or content levels. Security permissions can also be governed by end-user action (e.g., adding attachments).  Permissions can be assigned to the group, project role, or even at the user level.  Sets of permissions can be saved as "schemes" and then reused by applying those schemes to other projects and/or issue types within a project.

When it comes to security vulnerabilities, Atlassian operates both proactively and transparently by advising customers about their vulnerabilities discovered and makes every attempt to offer quick workarounds or patches. For additional details on JIRA's security capabilities, please see this section of our Administator's manual.

Interoperability

Using Application Linking technology, Add-ons, and well documented REST-based APIs, JIRA is highly interoperable.

Application Links (AppLinks) is a plugin that ships bundled with JIRA which allows you to link your JIRAConfluenceFishEyeCrucible and Bamboo applications. Linking two applications allows you to share information and to access one application's functions from within the other. For example, if you link JIRA and Confluence, you can view JIRA issues on a Confluence page via the JIRA Issues macro. You can even link your individual projects, spaces and repositories with each other, across the different applications.

アドオン

JIRA's rich plugin ecosystem contains many free or low cost commercial Add-ons.  Customize JIRA for your needs with custom fields, gadgets, mobile clients and integrations for your other applications and development tools. You can also browse and manage available add-ons from the Atlassian Marketplace right from JIRA's built-in Universal Plugin Manager. More information can be found within the Add-ons section of this Cookbook.

REST-based APIs

JIRA also ships with a well documented set of REST-based APIs. In addition, Atlassian provides our customers with a Plugin SDK. Using the SDK, customers can customize JIRA, introduce new features, or simply integrate it with another product within your enterprise.

Maintainability

JIRA is an entirely web-based application. It ships with a set of bundled tools which help Administrators configure, maintain and upgrade JIRA in as little time as possible - thereby greatly reducing the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

Portability

JIRA has a light weight footprint and is deployed as a web application within Apache Tomcat.  JIRA supports all major commercial databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and MySQL.  Recent versions of standard web browsers such as Firefox, Chrome and Internet Explorer are fully supported by JIRA.   More on supported server and client platforms may be found here.

Ecosystem

With more than 18,000 customers and 250 Partners (we call them Experts) worldwide, Atlassian has a thriving ecosystem which exists and collaborates within internet groups, online forums, blogs, and social media platforms.  We estimate that based on current worldwide penetration, about 2 million individuals have used or are using Atlassian's products.

Accessibility

While Atlassian has never formally tested for Section 508 compliance, the product supports many of the primary Section 508 criteria. JIRA delivers content through a web interface which is available to all standard screen sizes. It makes use of numerous keyboard shortcuts and leverages embedded alternative text for images.

JIRA has also been approved by a large number of US Government and commercial organizations including the US Departments of Energy, Interior and Transport, the Environmental Protection Agency, the US Navy and the US Supreme Court.
