Documentation for GreenHopper 6.2.x. Documentation for earlier versions of GreenHopper is [available too].

Configuring a board allows you to edit the mapping of JIRA workflow statuses to columns of a board, as well as edit the columns, swimlanes, filter and quick filters of a board, and customise the card colours and displayed issue fields.

(info) Note that only the owner of a board (or a person with the 'JIRA Administrators' global permission) can modify its configuration.

ボードの名前を変更する

ボードの名前を変更する手順は、次のとおりです:

  1. Go to the Configuration screen for your board (see above).
  2. Click the 'pencil' icon (which will appear when you hover) to edit the name of your board. Press the Enter key when finished.

Changing a board's owner

A board's owner is the only person who can change the configuration of a board along with JIRA administrator users. By default, the owner of a board is the person who created it. If you are the owner, or a JIRA administrator, you can change the owner of a board.

To change the owner of your board:

  1. Go to the Configuration screen for your board (see above).
  2. Click the 'pencil' icon (which will appear when you hover) to edit the owner of the board. Press the Enter key when finished.

(info) Note that you will want to also give the new owner rights to manage the JIRA filter on which the board is based – see the JIRA documentation on Managing Shared Filters.

ボードを共有する

A board is available to all users who can view the saved filter on which the board is based. (Note that they will also need 'Browse' permission for the project(s) whose issues are shown on the board.)

If you wish to share a board with different people, you will need to either edit the saved filter (see the JIRA documentation on issue filters), or choose a different filter (see Configuring Filters).

Note that only the owner of the board or an Administrator may modify a board's configuration.

Note that only the owner of the board or an Administrator may modify a board's configuration.

Does "Administrator" mean only full system administrators or project administrators?  From our experience it appears to mean the former.  Project administrators who are not the board owner are told they do not have permissions to configure the board.

    1. Anonymous

Yes it's the former and this seems quite limiting. I'd like to create a board to share with other team members but if it needs a change I don't want to be the one who has to change it!

  2. Paul Ryan

Given that the owner of the board and managers of a board are not the same is there a plan to allow a permissions scheme much like that for project for boards? Also as the owner of a board (not an administrator) I can't change the owner has this functionality changed?

  3. Dave Gööck

please make a more flexible permission handling for boards available. it is really obstructive at the moment.

  4. Haiko

I second that, please make permissions for configuring a board more flexible. It really is not optimized for working as a TEAM.

This story seems to be covered by GHS-5242 - Getting issue details... STATUS now. Please vote/comment.

        1. Sorry, you are correct

I found this difficult to navigate as a user who created a board has since left the company and the user account was deactivated.  I am an administrator but still could not change the board owner to myself.  The solution was for someone with global administration privileges to log in, enter admin mode, click global administration (requiring password) and they could then see the pencil icon to change the board owner.

A long way around a simple config, but much simpler than duplicating boards.

More flexible permissions would be quite welcome! Please everyone upvote GHS-5242 :)

I agree - as an Admin, I'd like to have access to the "Edit Filter" link on the board's configuration page - but it's not visible unless I'm an owner.

I can enter Administration mode - but then don't have any links to get to boards... I dunno if that would help anyway.

    I am JIRA Admin.

    A. If I am Owner of a GreenHopper board, but NOT owner of the board's filter, then

    1. i see 'Owner' filed under the board filter tab (filter owner, not board owner)
    2. i CANNOT change the board owner.

    B. If I am Owner of a GreenHopper board, AND owner of the board's filter, then

    1. i do NOT see  'Owner' filed under the board filter tab (filter owner, not board owner)
    2. i CAN change the board owner.

    scenario A is a bug?

    1. James, can you please contact http://support.atlassian.com ? Many thanks.

Is it possible to change the 'Filter Query' after a board has been started? I want to add a second project to my board but I don't seem to be able to do it

    1. Deleted Account

You'll want to look at the Configuring Filters documentation.

I just saw this edit via email subscription: "A board's owner is the only person who can change the configuration of a board along with admin users. By default, the owner of a board is the person who created it. If you are the owner, or an administrator, you can change the owner of a board."

In what version of Greenhopper is this true? Because it is not true in my version. That was the reason for several of the comments above.

    1. Deleted Account

I think they mean JIRA Admin and not Project Admins.

      1. Eric Turley

Actually, JIRA admin is what I assumed they meant. (I'm a JIRA admin on our instance.)

        1. Deleted Account

This has been true since the beginning of the Rapid Board (now known as Board) from what I remember. Since we first moved to the new board's in 5.8 (5.9?) as a JIRA Admin I've been able to configure anyone's board, and change the board owner.

          1. Michael Andreacchio

Hi Eric Turley, I'm sorry about not making this 100% clear though I stumbled on this yesterday. It is actually that JIRA Admins can still configure the full board, regardless if they're the owners of it or not.

            1. Eric Turley

OK, @Michael Andreacchio but it is this particular statement that I cannot do in my version of JIRA. So it seems either the statement is wrong, or maybe you can tell me what I'm missing: "If you are the owner, or an a JIRA administrator, you can change the owner of a board." As you see in the picture I posted below, I cannot change the owner, even though I am a JIRA admin on our instance.

  11. Eric Turley

    Maybe I'm missing something.

Here is a picture of me "configuring" a board I do not currently own.

Note that I cannot change the filter, and there are no controls to change the owner.

There are other parts that I can configure, but not the most important ones (smile)

    This is in Greenhopper 6.1.5.

    1. Deleted Account

So you should just be able to click on "Seth Call" (in-line edit) and change that to someone else.

Edit: I can do this on 6.1.5. When you highlight over the owner name you should see that the field is editable.

      1. Eric Turley

Not for me. The name is a link to the user's profile page. It is not editable.

Hovering over it provides a little "contact card" popup.

So - is there something I've missed that my Greenhopper 6.1.5 operates differently than yours? (It's on JIRA v5.1.7#786-sha1:c37bed1)

          Hi Eric,

In my instance I have both JIRA Admin and JIRA System Admin privileges. Can you confirm you have both global permissions?

          1. Eric Turley

            How do I verify that?

            1. Deleted Account

See the Managing Global Permissions page for reference and make sure you're in a group associated with the JIRA System Admin permission.

              1. Eric Turley

                Yes I do.

Under Global Permssions, JIRA System Administrators permission has been granted to the group "jira-administrators," of which I am a member.

                  Eric,

I'd suggest opening a support request with Atlassian for this. Rosie Jameson [Atlassian], can you remove this thread once Eric moves this to a support request?

Changing a board's owner is not working in JIRA Administrator
