要約

When it comes to adding Custom fields or System fields to Screens, on Jira Cloud, there are six options that we can use to do that.

The purpose of this documentation is to go through each option so administrators can decide which is the best one when configuring the Screens.

To update screens, the user must have Administer Jira rights.

The steps below are for Company-managed projects only.

オプション 1

Project settings > Screens

When we need to update specific screens, for example, just for the Create or the View/Edit screen from a specific Issue type, the best option is to go directly to the desired project and access Project settings.

Jira Service Management and Jira Work Management projects - Project settings > Screens.

Jira Software - Project settings > Issues > Screens.

In the example below we are using a Jira Software project.

By accessing the Screens page, we will see the Issue types and the Screen Schemes for each one. There are cases where all Issue types will share the same Scheme and some will have separate schemes.

On the bottom of the page, administrators can search for the desired field, and if necessary to remove one of them, just hover the mouse over it for the button to appear.

オプション 2

グローバル設定

By accessing the Cog icon at the top right corner and clicking on Issues, administrators will be able to access the Screens menu where it’s possible to view all screens from all projects in Jira.

From there, administrators can filter the Screen and click on it under the Name column to access the page where administrators can add and remove fields.

オプション 3

ワークフローのトランジション

Sometimes administrators deal with many projects and when required to add fields to a specific screen from a transition, might be complicated to find it.

By accessing the Project settings > Workflows and clicking on Edit, administrators can select a specific transition and from there see the Screen linked to the transition.

Once clicking on the name of the Screen, administrators will be redirected to the page to add and remove fields.

オプション 4

カスタム フィールド

When a new Custom field is created, by default, the administrator is redirected to a page where it’s possible to select one or multiple screens to add the new field.

In case an existing field needs to be added to several Screens, administrators can follow the below steps:

Go to Settings (Cog icon) > Issues > Custom fields.

Once finding the desired field, click on ••• > Associate to Screens.

On the next page, click on the checkboxes to select the Screens and then scroll down and click on Update to save the changes.

オプション 5

フィールド設定

This option is similar to the previous one since the final screen to select the desired Screens to add the field is the same, but administrators can access it directly from the project.

Jira Service Management and Jira Work Management - Project settings > Fields.

Jira Software - Project settings > Issues > Fields.

Once accessing the Fields page, click on the pencil icon to Edit.

By clicking on Screens next to the field that needs to be associated with one, administrators will be redirected to the same page mentioned in Option 4 where it's possible to select one or more Screens.

オプション 6

Request type and Issue layout

Jira Service Management

On Jira Service Management projects, a new feature is being implemented allowing Jira administrators to add Custom fields to the Issue view without the need to first add them to the Screen.

By accessing the Request type, administrators can search for the fields and add them directly to the Issue view or Request form.

Jira Software

In Software projects, this possibility is being implemented as well and it can be found via Project settings > Issues > Layout.

Jira Work Management

For Business projects, this option is available via Project settings > Issue layout > Edit issue layout.
