Plan your Versions

You can now plan your upcoming versions via Plan mode in GreenHopper. Quickly create or edit version details (including Version Start Date), drag-and-drop issues into the appropriate version, filter your backlog by a particular version, and view reports on how well your team is tracking towards version release.

In GreenHopper 6.2 we are delighted to launch versions out of Labs. Versions are now automatically enabled for every Scrum board, and appear in the Versions panel in Plan mode:

Originally released (via Labs) in GreenHopper 6.1.4, we added integrated epic/version filtering in GreenHopper 6.1.5, and the ability to create new versions directly from Plan mode in GreenHopper 6.1.6.

View and Edit Version Details via GreenHopper

For your convenience, version details can now be speedily edited directly in GreenHopper (rather than going to JIRA Administration). Simply hover to edit the Description, Start Date or Release Date, or click the drop-down at right to rename the version:

View your Start Date on the Version Report

The Version Report now recognises the Start Date you specified when creating/editing your version.

This gives you a more accurate report in cases where you might plan a version many weeks or even months in advance, but not actually commence work until closer to the release date.

As of 4/23/2013 1:30pm EST, Greenhopper version 6.2 doesn't appear to be available via the Marketplace or within JIRA itself via Manage Addons

    1. Just checking that you are on JIRA 5.1 or later?

Why was support for 5.0 dropped?  If there are no API changes in the underlying app across major version numbers why would GreenHopper need to exclude versions in the same series?  We were waiting for the features in 6.2, and this just pushed out many of our groups' adoption of Rapid Board by another six months.

          Hi there,

There were actually some library conflicts between JIRA 5.0 and the upcoming JIRA 6 release, so supporting both would require significant development overhead.

          Cheers

JIRA 6 is not out yet!  Why are you dropping support of a current product in favor of a product that isn't even released yet?  There should be a GH release when JIRA 6 comes out to support that new version which is unrelated to GH feature work.

Is there any way to get the version and epic behaviour back where the version and epic panel buttons stayed where they were instead of being removed so that we now have to find the little small X to close those panels?

There is no keyboard shortcut to those panels like the detail view and now the usability was made really horrible by using this little X right next to the "+" button.

When planning these panels are opened and closed many many times so please make them like they were before because that was fast and usable.

Before it was possible to simply throw the pointer to the left of the screen and there they were. Now users have to find the little botton.

I want to downgrade again if that is possible only because of what looks like a bad design decision.

My advice to other users is that they should not upgrade if they consider easy opening and closing of the Epic and Version panels a priority like me.

    Regards.

We are using 6.1.6 of Greenhopper and using the Version Report feature. 6.2's release notes say that the Version Report now takes into account non-working days. Can you confirm – does this mean that 6.1.6 does not take into account non-working days in its calculations of the projected release date? We've been using this to make business decisions and need to know. We do see that non-working days show up as gray on the version report, so had assumed it was being used as part of the calculations in 6.1.6. I'm refering to this text in the 6.2 relese notes: "Non-Working Days recognised in Release Date Projections When calculating the Projected Release Date for a version, the Version Report now takes account of your specified non-working days."

    1. You are right, non-working days have always been taken account of in the Version Report. I have removed that section from the 6.2 Release Notes. Apologies for the confusion.

    Hi!,

I was wondering if there are solutions for:

    • Changing the number next to a story title in the "Stories Swimlanes" Work view to display the story points and not the number of sub tasks under the story
    • Show/Hide the Versions tag next to summary in the Plan view backlog?

    Let me know,

    Thank you!

    Keep up the amazing work!

    1. Glad to hear you like the 6.2 release (smile)

      Re your questions:

      • You may like to watch/vote/comment on GHS-7351 - Getting issue details... STATUS (re story points, not number of subtasks,  for Story-based swimlanes)
      • You may like to watch/vote/comment on GHS-8040 - Getting issue details... STATUS (hide tags/labels/lozenges in Plan mode)
