Agile Project Management

The GreenHopper Plugin provides agile project management to simplify both sprint planning and task tracking for your team. It consists of the following four "boards":

  1. Planning Board - Visualise issues, tasks and user stories as graphical "cards", colour-coded and dynamically editable.
  2. Task Board - Quickly create, assemble, sort and prioritise project tasks with drag-and-drop simplicity.
  3. Chart Board - Create dynamic burndown and burnup charts for your projects.
  4. Released Board - Get access to charts and release notes for the released versions of your projects.

GreenHopper also includes a customisable gadget that allows you to generate burndown and burnup charts for any saved filter and place them on your dashboard.

GreenHopper comes bundled with your JIRA Hosted trial, so you can start using it right away! But first, you should read through the GreenHopper 101 page and follow the configuration steps to get it up and running to its fullest potential.

Note: A free trial of GreenHopper is included in your evaluation; if you wish to use it a non-evaluation environment, you will have to purchase a GreenHopper license.

Ever heard the saying 'a picture is worth a thousand words'? Using the Balsamiq Mockups Plugin you can create and visualise mockups of diagrams for proposed layouts of website content, new features, and much more, right within JIRA.

  • Our Development Team uses Balsamiq to mockup new features for our products. The Balsamiq Mockup below eventuated in the new Image Browser that shipped in Confluence 3.1.
  • Our Marketing Team use Balsamiq to create mockups of pages for our website in JIRA. The issues are then assigned to our Web Team to implement.
How to add a Mockup to an existing issue
  1. Click the "Add/Edit UI Mockup" link in the Operations menu on the left-hand side of the screen.
  2. Select "A New Blank Mockup"
  3. Click "Edit"
  4. Once you've completed your mockup, select "Save and Close" from the Mockup menu in the top-left.

The Gliffy plugin allows you to easily create professional-quality flowcharts and diagrams, right in your JIRA issue.

At Atlassian, we've used this tool to map out the possible paths a visitor to our website may take. This diagram is attached to a JIRA issue where users can discuss the possible flaws with the website design, and make changes to the diagram to address them.

How to add a Diagram to an existing issue
  1. Click the "Add/Edit Gliffy Diagram" link in the Operations menu on the left-hand side of the screen.
  2. Select the New Diagram button
  3. Enter a name for your diagram.
  4. Once you've completed your diagram, select "Save and Close" from the File menu in the top-left.
