Confluence allows you to partition your site into spaces so you can categorize and organize content on your site based on any theme or criteria of your choice. A space is simply an area on your site where you can group various content types together. These may be pages, news items, comments, attachments or mail.

Confluence treats each space as an independently managed wiki. What this means is that for each team or project in your organisation, you can have a separate space that functions autonomously within your site.

Each space:

  • has its own access control settings, so you can set different levels of access to different spaces.
  • has its own mail, reports, and RSS feeds to track new or modified pages, and new comments.
  • can be separately exported to PDF.

There is no limit to the number of spaces you can create within Confluence!

You can view all the spaces within a site via the dashboard. Click on the logo beside the page title to go to the dashboard.
