Confluence allows you to partition your site into spaces so you can categorize and organize content on your site based on any theme or criteria of your choice. A space is simply an area on your site where you can group various content types together: pages, news items, comments, attachments and mail.
Confluence treats each space as an independantly managed wiki. What this means is that, for each team or project in your organisation, you can have a seperate space that functions autonomously within your site.
Each space:
- has its own access control settings, so you can be set different levels of access to different spaces.
- has its own mail, reports, and RSS Feeds to track new or modified pages, and new comments.
- can be separately exported to PDF.
There is no limit to the number of spaces you can create within Confluence!
You can easily view all the spaces within a site via the Dashboard.
