No, Confluence cannot replace your regular mail client.

Confluence's mail archive is designed to supplement the way you currently handle email, not to replace it. This is why Confluence deliberately does not come with features common in email clients. For example, you cannot mark emails as read or unread, you cannot reply to emails from within Confluence, and so on.
