Coloring by components
Before you begin, note that the components should already be existing in your Jira project. See Managing components to know how to create and use components in your Jira issues.
To set colors for a component in a plan:
- In the roadmap view of the plan, click View settings.
- From the 'Color by' menu, choose Component. The options for component colors will be displayed.
- Click + Add color. A color palette will be displayed.
- Choose a color.
- Click the 'Choose component' menu to display the available components in the Jira projects in the plan.
- Choose a component for the color.
Managing components and colors
You can manage the components and colors being used in your plan, to help your audience visually assimilate the data in your plan at a glance.
For example, you have the following view settings configured for your plan:
With these view settings configured, you can do any of the following as needed:

In the example above, the Mobile Apps and mobile components are assigned to the same color cyan. Issues having any of these components will then be in the color cyan.

|Reset the components assigned to colors|
Over time, you may find yourself needing to reset and start configuring the colors and components in your plan from scratch. To do this, click Clear all colors.
Notes when coloring by components

In the example above...
- The gray color is reserved for all other issues that are not using any components. This means that since TIS-118 does not have any components, then its schedule bar will be colored gray.
- Issues that have multiple components will also be displayed in multiple components, i.e. the initiative TIS-116 in the example above.
- The project in which each component belongs to will appear in parentheses next to the component name itself. This helps you distinguish between components that are similarly named across the different projects in the plan.
