Summary
This article explains how to generate evaluation licenses (trial licenses) for apps (formerly plugins) available on the Atlassian Marketplace.
Such evaluation licenses are useful for testing an app to see if it meets your requirements or if the purchase or renewal process of a commercial license is taking longer than expected and you can't disable the app.
Environment
Evaluation licenses work the same for all apps available in the marketplace, all Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence, BitBucket, Bamboo, etc.), and platforms (Cloud and Data Center).
Solution
You first need an Atlassian ID account to access more features in the marketplace. If you're an Atlassian product admin you likely already have one — or else you can create one at id.atlassian.com.
Browse the Marketplace for the app you want the evaluation license
Click on the Try it free button.
Select the platform of your Atlassian product that the app will be installed on: Cloud or Data Center. Click on that platform's Start free trial button or link.
Notice that the available platforms might vary from app to app. Some vendors might publish different apps for different platforms like Cloud and Server/DC, or some apps might not be certified for Data Center yet, thus will only list the Server option.
Fill in your company domain (or Cloud URL) and accept the Terms of Use. Click on Generate License next.
You'll have the license displayed to you on the screen.
If you happen to lose the generated license, you can search and retrieve it on my.atlassian.com! Be sure to log in with the same Atlassian ID you generated the license with.
