Cannot Retrieve JIRA Gadgets into a Confluence Page
症状
Trying to add a JIRA gadget into a Confluence page, the loading bar runs forever:
- If additional information is required e.g. filter, project, etc. but cannot be loaded, there's no way to add the gadget
- If no additional information is required, the gadget can be added but still the loading bar runs forever on the Confluence page upon saving
The following error message might be thrown:
Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500 (( The request was rejected by the HTTP filter. Contact the server administrator. ))
診断
This only happens when accessing Confluence/JIRA from external network. If accessing from the same network (internal) as the server/s on which Confluence/JIRA is installed, gadgets can be added and viewed normally.
It turns out that if a user uses internal network to add gadgets, he/she can add and view it but, at the same time, other users accessing from external network only see the loading bars.
From external network, JIRA gadgets can still be added and viewed in JIRA, and JIRA issues can still be added into Confluence pages. Only adding JIRA gadgets into Confluence pages does not work.
原因
Microsoft TMG (Threat Management Gateway) is being used on the server/s where Confluence/JIRA is installed and a limit on "Maximum URL length" is set, together with "Verify normalization". Since the URL of a JIRA gadget is usually long hence it will not be loaded if exceeding the URL length limit.
Kindly note that Microsoft TMG is not supported.
ソリューション
From JIRA 6.0.5, URL length and parameter is increased in order to address - JRA-31774Getting issue details... STATUS
Re-adjusting the "Maximum URL length" in TMG according the new limit in JIRA and/or uncheck "Verify normalization" will resolve the issue.
