Automation fails in Team-managed project if the actor does not have the required permission.

Summary

The automation fails to perform actions in a team managed project which has restrictions applied to it, i.e. if it's a limited or a private project

Environment

Jira Software Cloud Team-Managed project. 

Solution

Option 1:

Make sure that the automation rule's actor has access to the project. You can either add the user to the project or change the actor to the one who has access to the Team-Managed project. 

Option 2:

Change the restriction applied to the Team-Managed project and set the project to Open.
