conf.btf.hipchat.com is XMPP namespace for Hipchat Server and it is currently fixed (hardcoded). It does not relate to the host or domain of the chat service and no traffic is send out to it. We will likely allow customers to change the namespace to allow federation, which is where multiple XMPP servers talk to each other in future. We have an internal ticket open to change this.
