Setting up your alpha experience
This is the alpha version of Portfolio for Jira 3.0 — your sneak peek at the improved functionality that's just around the corner. As such, do note the following:
- Some features may not be complete just yet, as we're continuously iterating on these.
- Because it's an alpha version, the documentation will only be visible to you, our alpha users. You will not find any alpha pages in the usual page sidebar.
We've linked the table of contents below, so you can easily navigate to the alpha pages at any time.
はじめる前に
- You must use the latest version of Portfolio for Jira, which is currently version 2.15.
- Since we're continuously iterating on alpha plans, some functionality may not work as expected. With this in mind, we highly recommend that you enable alpha plans on a staging or test instance, and not on your production instance.
- We highly recommend you use Chrome or Firefox as your browser. There are known issues with Internet Explorer 11 and Safari that we are still working on.
Using the alpha version
To start using the alpha version, the following steps need to happen:
Step 1: Enable alpha in your Jira instance (performed by Jira administrators) |
|
Step 2: Enable alpha in your Portfolio plan (performed by Portfolio for Jira users) |
|
Step 1: Enable alpha in Jira
A user with the Jira administrators global permission will need to configure an additional setting in your Jira instance. This additional setting is what is known as a dark feature key in Jira.
You'll need the following information:
- The URL of your Jira instance, for example:
https://jira.atlassian.com/secure/admin/SiteDarkFeatures!default.jspa - The dark feature key for alpha, which is: com.atlassian.portfolio.simpleplans
次の点に注意してください。
- By enabling alpha, the alpha interface will be available to use for anyone who has access to your Jira instance. However, the alpha interface will have to be switched on for each plan in which you want to use it.
- Enabling alpha does not affect any data you already have in your existing plans, and in your Jira instance. The only pertinent change here will be your plan data being displayed in a simpler layout.
- Similarly, disabling alpha does not impact any data in your plans, and in your Jira instance.
- You can safely enable and disable alpha during the alpha phase, if needed.
- Do not disable any of the other dark features you may find in your instance. These are required for your Jira instance to work.
To enable alpha in your Jira instance:
- Log in to your Jira instance with the Jira administrators global permission.
- In the URL field of your browser, enter the following URL:
https://JIRA_INSTANCE_URL/secure/admin/SiteDarkFeatures!default.jspa
You'll need to replace JIRA_INSTANCE_URL with the URL of your JIRA instance itself. For example, if the URL of your Jira instance is jira.atlassian.com, then you should enter this URL:https://jira.atlassian.com/secure/admin/SiteDarkFeatures!default.jspa
The 'Site Wide Dark Features' page will display. - In the 'Enable dark feature' field, enter the following dark feature key:
com.atlassian.portfolio.
simpleplans
- Click Add. The dark feature key for 3.0 alpha plans will be displayed in the 'Site Wide Dark Features' page.
To disable alpha in your Jira instance, click Disable right next to com.atlassian.portfolio.
.simpleplans
Step 2: Enable alpha in each plan
As a Portfolio for Jira user, you'll need to enable alpha in your individual plans. Even if alpha is already enabled in your Jira instance, your plan will not get the new interface until alpha is enabled in the plan itself.
To enable alpha in each plan:
- Go to your plan via Portfolio (in header) > View Portfolio > click your plan.
- Click the settings icon next to the plan name > Configure. The plan configuration page will display.
- Click Alpha experience.
- Click Enable alpha to switch on the new interface for your plan.
To disable alpha in your Jira instance, from the plan configuration page, click Alpha experience > click Disable alpha.
While we've released heaps of features and improvements in alpha, we understand that you may need some features that are not available yet. If this is the case, you may need to opt out of alpha while we're building more functionality.
We'll announce new features and improvements as we roll them out in future releases. Check out our alpha release notes for updates. We hope you do opt in again, as we iterate on and release more features over time.
