As of June 1, 2015, the IDE Connector documentation will no longer be maintained by Atlassian. See https://developer.atlassian.com/blog/2015/06/discontinuing-ide-connectors-support/ for more information. We will also be making this documentation available for our open source community here: http://atlassian-docs.bitbucket.org/

Custom fields are supported for the Atlassian Connector for Eclipse. However, the following limitations apply:

  • Custom fields are not displayed in the task editor when creating new issues. This can cause issue creation to fail if custom fields are mandatory.
  • Custom fields that are specific to a workflow state, e.g. are only displayed when resolving an issue, are not displayed in the task editor. This can cause a workflow transition to fail if custom fields are mandatory.
  • Multi-select fields are not supported and not displayed in the task editor.

See this issue for additional information (please vote the issue and watch it to get notification about status updates).

Are there any plans for fix?

    1. There are plans to improve this situation, but not in the nearest future.
Part of the solution is new JIRA REST API which is being rolled out with JIRA 4.2 and next versions.

However, at the same time, custom fields are getting more ajaxy and complicated. I am afraid we may not able to handle all custom fields in Eclipse without resorting to embedding a web browser, which would somewhat undermine the sense of the whole Connector (which for instance supports off-line mode).

      1. Do you guys have an update on the timeframe for this update?  Right now, our Jira schema makes use of custom fields quite a bit, and the lack of this API gets in the way of more effective use.

        1. Still no concrete dates. JIRA 4.3 will have better REST API (with more functionality exposed), but it is still too limited to implement the features mentioned here.

JIRA 4.3 and the REST API have been released. Any updates on this?

When will mandatory custom fields support be added to JIRA for Eclipse Connector. We are already at JIRA 5.0

  6. Custom fields support has been significantly improved over last few months. There is almost full support for issue edit and transition screens.

There are still few limitations tough. The page has been upgraded to reflect latest changes.

Custom fields are not displayed in a new task

    1. Hi,

Could you elaborate what you mean exactly? Are you referring to the first bullet from this page i.e.:

Custom fields are not displayed in the task editor when creating new issues.

      Cheers,
      Jacek

Is this still outstanding.  I am using a custom field which is mandatory I cannot create a defect via the IDEA connector - This seems like a basic requirement

    1. Hi,

The related feature request has only 2 votes at the moment. We do not want to invest time and implement not important features.

      Have you already voted it?
