Summary
The plugin upload from the UI (upload app link) is disabled by default on Crowd versions 5.0.11 , 5.1.9, 5.2.4, 5.3.0 (or newer), or any other Crowd version with Universal Plugin Manager 6.4.5 or higher.
If you need to upload apps (as in environments not connected to Atlassian Marketplace), you can either re-enable this feature or upload the app directly to the nodes. All are shown below.
Environment
Crowd on versions 5.0.11 , 5.1.9, 5.2.4, 5.3.0 (or newer); OR
Crowd on lower versions but using Universal Plugin Manager version 6.4.5 or higher.
Solution
The Crowd administrator can enable the plugin upload by using the JVM flag "-Dupm.plugin.upload.enabled=true" (recommended method)
So, to enable the upload app link with the UPM flag, please perform the following in all nodes:
Stop Crowd
Go to<installation-directory>/bin, and edit the setenv.sh (Linux) or setenv.bat (Windows) file
Set the following property "-Dupm.plugin.upload.enabled=true"
Restart Crowd
