Error reading from remote server during Crowd Setup Wizard

Symptoms

The following appears in the browser during the setup wizard. There is no progress past the Options step, after the database has been set up.

1 proxy: Error reading from remote server returned by /crowd/console/setup/setupoptions!update.action

Cause

The firewall will not allow the server to connect back to itself.

Resolution

Remove the restriction from the firewall.
