Connection to authentication server failed message when logging into Crowd after changing servers

Summary

Problem

The following appears in the UI when trying to log in:

Connection to authentication server failed. Please review the logs for more information

Cause

  1. The crowd.properties file was not updated when the Crowd Home Directory was migrated.

  2. Failed to login due to the http connection timeout.

Solution

Resolution

Cause 1:

  • Edit the crowd.properties file in the root of the home directory.

  • modify the line crowd.server.url so that it points to your new Crowd server.
