Inline comments are not working with some 2 or 3 letters words or a selection of letters

To reproduce the behavior:

  1. Select words with 2 or 3 letters (to, in, and, the) or a set of 2 or 3 letters from a word

  2. Start an inline comment

  3. Type a comment and hit save

  4. Warning appears in the screen and comment is not saved

Diagnostic Steps

  • Enable Safe Mode by navigating to Confluence Admin >> Manage Add-Ons, test again and see if the problem persists, as it can be caused by one of the add-ons.

  • See if Comala Workflows plugin is installed

Cause

Comala Workflows is the root cause of the issue. Contact Comala support.

Solution

Resolution

Disable the Comala workflow or upgrade to version 4.13.1 or later. This issue was fixed in Comala Workflows 4.13.1 per the Release Notes.
