This diagram has features grouped together with each one dedicated to a specific type of action. Starting on the top and moving counterclockwise:

  2. Modify your view

  3. Issues in your plan

  4. Issue values, columns, and schedule bars

  5. Timeframe view settings

  6. Monitor health and fix errors

This area is where you switch between of Advanced Roadmaps. The menu on the right is where you can find your Roadmaps, Teams, Releases, and Dependencies Report views as well as the four preconfigured views that come with Advanced Roadmaps.

You can also use this area to switch between different hypothetical versions of your plan if you have Scenarios enabled.

2. Modify your view

This area of Advanced Roadmaps is where you can change and filter what information is shown on your timeline. The Filters menu helps you find specific issues relevant to you. You can filter issues by teams, project, assignees, and more. Learn more about how to filter issuesThe View settings menu lets you customize how issues and related information are displayed on your timeline. In this menu, you can do the following:

You can use these settings and filters to modify your view, then save it using the Save this view button.

3. Issues in your plan

Advanced Roadmaps shows the names, types, and hierarchy of issues in your plan in the the left-hand column. If an issue contains children, select the arrow (>) to expand collapsed rows. Alternatively, use the Issue dropdown menu at the top of the column to expand or collapse all issues.

When you create a new issue on your roadmap, Advanced Roadmaps places it at the bottom of your current project. If you’ve made a child-level issue (such as a story or subtask), it will be listed under the collapsible x issues without parent heading at the bottom of your timeline until it’s linked to a parent task.

Jira Software

4. Issue values, columns, and schedule bars

For each of the issues in your plan, columns in the Fields section display issue data from Jira Software. By default, newly created plans include columns for target starttarget end, and status. You can add columns for values that are already configured in your plan via the Fields dropdown menu.

The values in the start date and due date columns is what Advanced Roadmaps uses to create the schedule bars on your timeline. These bars show the duration of issues that have been scheduled. A striped bar indicates that one or both dates are being automatically inferred using the roll-up values setting. A schedule bar that fades out indicates a partial roll-up. See the Roll up values to parent issues to learn more.

5. Timeframe view settings

You can choose the length of time you want your roadmap to cover using the timeframe dropdown menu. Choose from Weeks, Months, Quarters, or Years. Use the arrow buttons next to the timeframe picker to scroll down your timeline, or scroll using your mouse or trackpad.

If you want to see more of your timeline, use the arrow icon in the lower right corner of your timeline to enter fullscreen mode to hide the header on your plan. This is useful for those on small screens or for when presenting your roadmap. Use the same button to exit fullscreen mode.

6. Monitor health and fix errors

The upper right corner of your roadmap are features help keep your plan on track. If you’ve set up releases in your project, you can track their progress against them using the red and green icons above your timeline. Green icons show that your release is on-track while red icons indicate that that your release is in trouble. Learn more about monitoring releases.

In this area, you’ll also find the Warnings icon. While scheduling work for your teams, Advanced Roadmaps will generate a warning when it detects errors like misaligned dates in your plan. The Warning center is where you can enable or disable warnings, choose to only see issues with warnings, and filter by warning type.

If you have it enabled in your timeline, this area is also where you can monitor sprint capacity.
